A great reading at the Wild Pug
Well, last night marked the first in what promises to be a series of open mic (mike?--I never know) readings at the Wild Pug, a great new bar in the Uptown neighborhood of Chicago (Thanks to Brian and Steve for hosting the event)
. Featured readers at last night's reading included Bill Konisgberg, author of the amazing novel Out of the Pocket; Craig Seymour, the author of the page-turning memoir All I Could Bare; the witty, funny and gracious Gregg Shapiro, author of the poetry volume Protection; and yours truly. The evening included open mic readings as well as a sort of series of impromptu confessions at the microphone for free drink tokens, and bartender Craig reading dirty haikus. It looks like this will become a regular, second Thursday of every month type event. I'll keep updates as to who the featured readers will be and also any special monthly themes. Finally, a big shout out to the Uptown Borders book store for stocking signed copies of all the titles.
