More reviews of The Screwed-Up Life of Charlie the Second

Jesse Monteagudo of AfterElton.com reviews The Screwed-Up Life of Charlie the Second, saying in part: "It is this year's finest contribution to the gay youth genre." Previously, author Brent Hartinger called the book "funny" on AfterElton. com and complained that the book looks like it has a 13 year-old kid on the cover. For the record, I had nothing to do with the cover. It's a stock photo...and no, I don't know what's up with the post-it notes.
In his syndicated book review column "Book Marks," Richard Labonte calls The Screwed-Up Life of Charlie the Second "exuberant," "high spirited and frequently hilarious."
Matt, over at Debriefing The Boys, has a nice long post about Charlie and even put up some pictures of how he envisioned the character of Rob looking. If you aren't reading Matt's blog, you should be. I've been a fan for years.
Last, but of course not least, Chicago's own talented poet, Gregg Shapiro calls Charlie "one of the most promising debuts of the year," and also adds that the book is "humorous and heartbreaking." His review appears in the Bay Area Reporter.
