2008 Cybils Award Nomination for The Screwed-Up Life of Charlie the Second

- October 21 2008,

I just found out that The Screwed-Up Life of Charlie the Second has been nominated in the Young Adult category for a 2008 Cybils Award. The Cybils Awards started three years ago and it is billed as the children and young adult bloggers' literary awards. Apparently, nominations are initially made by members of the public and then the nominated titles are vetted through an initial round of judging by a host of book bloggers. The books that make that cut are considered finalists and then judged in a second round. I have to say my heart, beta-carotene, reading glasses and good quality lighting go out to the judges. In this year's YA category, there are 135 nominees. You can learn more about the awards here or see the full list of 2008 YA finalists here. If you're going to order The Screwed-Up Life of Charlie the Second on-line, you can order it directly from their site and the modest proceeds they get from Amazon will go to support their awards program. Still, support your favorite local bookstores when you can.
